Hey! You’ve Found the Right Place If …
You’re Tired of Struggling? You’re Bored?
Disappointed? You Want to Quit, but… ?
Well, come on in! Take a deep breath. There is a solution.
I’ve been there done that. And I know how to get out!
It all started in December after 9/11.
I was attending a tax seminar for the 2001 tax season. As I walked into the stuffy meeting room, I had an overwhelming sense of dread. Frowns. No “joi de vivre”. Stooped shoulders. Arm slings and canes. Everyone oozed old!
Inside my mind, I was screaming “get me outta here!”
It was in that moment I decided to write my “I quit” letter to my clients.
And, that’s exactly what I did when I got home.
Of course, I finished the tax seminar and prepared the 2001 tax returns for my most favorite, long time clients. What kept me going was the knowing that I would be DONE after 20 years. One of the ironies of being an accountant is that accounting is NEVER done. Looming in the foreground is the next week’s payroll, next month’s financials, or next quarter’s tax returns. Finally I would be finished with everything!
Yet I was questioning my decision to quit. What was I gonna do instead?
You see I loved accounting. My accounting and small business consulting practice was a dream come true. (See “Meet Linda” for more details.) Can you remember when you first started your business?
It was exciting and scary. Right? But you didn’t really mind because you were creating something that was YOURS. It was your dream. It was gonna be your financial reward as a result of your labors. And, you’d be running the show.
You mighta thought you’d have more free time to spend with your family. Have more money. Be able to do whatever you wanted. Have more fun. Have more freedom. Sell your business and have the money for a fabulous retirement.
Now it’s five, ten or fifteen years later.
Your business is up and running. You have success – but perhaps not like you had envisioned. You have loyal customers – but not enough. You’re working harder and longer than you ever did at a job. You have no real free time. Your kids are growing up too fast. Plus, it doesn’t seem like there’s enough money left over for retirement funding no less for a regular vacation! You’re just livin’ to pay the bills.
“Is that all there is?”
I mean, you probably built your business the “right way”. You played by the rules; followed the successful leaders in your field; kept up with the latest techniques and worked … click here for more
